Downtown Artist & Label Services Expands Roster
Downtown Artist & Label Services (DA&LS) is enhancing its role in the global music scene with exciting new signings and catalogue acquisitions. The latest artists to join their roster include:
- Sofi Tukker (Grammy-nominated duo)
- Capital Cities (indie-pop favorites)
- Twenty One Pilots (acquired catalogue for their self-titled 2009 album)
These new additions highlight Downtown’s commitment to offering top-notch distribution, marketing, and artist-focused services.
Capital Cities Signs for Catalogue and Future Releases
Capital Cities, known for their hit single "Safe and Sound," has partnered with DA&LS to manage their entire catalogue and future projects. Their first release with Downtown, "A Hurricane of Frowns," debuted on February 14 and has already led to a more than 30% increase in daily Spotify streams.
“Downtown has made an immediate impact in amplifying our reach,” said Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian of Capital Cities. “We’re energized by this partnership and excited for what’s next.”
Sofi Tukker Brings U.S. Catalogue to Downtown
Sofi Tukker is also joining DA&LS, bringing their U.S. catalogue, which includes popular tracks like "Purple Hat." The duo first gained fame in 2015 with their single "Drinkee," earning a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. Their debut album, Treehouse, released in 2019, also received a Grammy nomination.
This signing reflects Downtown's strategy of aligning with globally recognized artists.
Twenty One Pilots’ Early Catalogue Upstreamed
Twenty One Pilots' debut album, released in 2009 through CD Baby, has transitioned to DA&LS. This album was a key step in the band’s rise to global success, and the move aims to unlock new opportunities for their early work.
A Proven Track Record in Artist Growth
DA&LS is building a strong reputation for helping independent artists grow. Since 2022, artists like Rebecca Black and Roar have moved from CD Baby to DA&LS. Black’s album, Let Her Burn, gained traction, especially with her single "Salvation," which debuted at No. 10 on Spotify U.S. Meanwhile, TV Girl experienced a 350% increase in streaming after joining DA&LS in mid-2022, with their song "Lovers Rock" recently exceeding half a billion streams.
Looking Ahead: Downtown’s Vision
“We’re thrilled to welcome such innovative talent to our roster,” said Bryan Mooney, Global VP of A&R at DA&LS. “Each artist embodies the creative independence and excellence we support. Our goal is clear: empower artists to grow on their own terms while keeping ownership and control.”
Mooney emphasized that these signings further demonstrate how Downtown’s ecosystem can elevate artists and catalogues, turning momentum into long-term success.
